Last weekend in Denton and Lubbock
Damn, that was a bad ass weekend. First thing we did was pull into Denton on THU night. This was our first headlining Denton show, and we were pumped. We had Sunday Drive (Grady from BAGG has another band) and they rocked, and they even played a sweet version of "The Weight" for little old me. Then we had this band called Sublemon on the bill, which is a Sublime cover band. They played their Sublime goodness, and it was halfway through their set when we realized that Texas Jive was PACKED. We were excited. We hopped up there and knew that we had to rock from the get-go. We started off with a little Buddy Boo and then played What's the Buzz. This whipped the crowd into a frenzy and they stayed that way the whole show. Man, the corwd was awesome. Denton is AWESOME. Much love and thanks to our pals in BAGG. Grady, Ben, and Gaah(n) were at the show and it was damn good to see them. They have helped us out in Denton so much its not even funny. After the show, we cruised over to Grady and Jessie's house to hang out. First, I have to digress. Grady and Jessie have been kind enough to let PLUMP sleep on the floor of their house every time we come to Denton. They have now moved into a new house about 3 times the size of the old one. I was running windsprints in their living room. It was awesome. Unfortunately, there was some sort of incident in which the cats broke out of the house while they were at Texas Jive. I hope they found them all. Regardless, we made sure to have a late-night viewing of "Harold and Kumar got to White castle".
All right, next day we drive up to Lubbock. Nice drive. We hook up with our pals Mike madden and Adam. Over to Texas Cafe. Ate some good bbq. One Big Groove played a nice opening set. Then--man. What a crowd. I think we had about 260 people. Our biggest Lubbock show of all time. The dance floor ROCKED!!! Man, good times. Although I rubbed a hell of a lot of skin off my thumb. I required a band-aid and plenty of them. Saturday at Texas Cafe was bad ass too. Lubbock--YOU ARE AWESOME. THANKS SO MUCH.
We definitely took the time in Lubbock to eat a Big Mama at Josie's. We also went to Ralph's Records in Lubbock. Andrew bought a Fugazi album, Al bought an acoustic Slip album, and Jason bought the Flying Luttenbackers, the Acoustic Singers of Zambia, and Tibetan Tantric Chants. The drive back from Lubbock was long, and we had a nice flirtation with death. Let's just say, PLUMP looked death straight in the monacle and then said "NEIN". Anyhoo, I will post the setlists tomorrow.
Get ready New Orleans (THU at Twiropa), Beaumont (FRI at Vortex), and Bryan/College Station (SAT at Revolution). We are coming your way this weekend.
Cool Beans
